About Beverly

Hi. My name is Beverly De La Bruere, MD but most people call me Dr. Bev. I have been a family practice physician for 30 years.

Like you, I found going through menopause and other hormonal changes to be difficult. I had packed on weight with each pregnancy, and each year it got more difficult to take off. My blood pressure and blood sugar were both too high. My thyroid was tested repeatedly, and I was always told that it was normal.

Conventional medical treatment offered little help for me. There were solutions, but they did not solve my problems.  I tried hormone therapy which helped my cranky, tearful moods and lifted the fog that had settled over my brain. My sleep improved, but my sex drive plummeted, the weight wouldn’t budge, and my joints began to ache. I was feeling very much like I was “over the hill!

In seeking help for myself and for my patients, I was lead to study Functional Medicine. This approach to medicine looks at the whole person and finds underlying root causes for chronic problems.  It uses more natural treatments and encourages healthy lifestyle changes.

As I began to apply this to my own life, I started uncovering the issues that were causing my health problems. I also now had solutions that were effective in resolving my issues. My sons may think I am “over the hill” at my age, but my health is very much on its way up. My joint pain is much improved, my sex life is enjoyable again (much to the delight of my husband), my weight is coming down, my blood pressure and blood sugar have normalized, I feel 5 years younger.

Best of all, I have hope again, in place of a dreadful prospect of declining health!
